We are pleased to announce confirmation of eleven of our Judging Panel for the Green Construction Awards:

 

Dr Christoph Morbitzer, Associate and Environment Lead, HLM Architects
 

In his role as Head of HLM Environment, Christoph ensures that sound environmental principles are embedded into HLM Architects’ design work. In addition, he oversees the continuous development of the award winning in-house Environmental Design Framework, and is engaged with national and international interest groups, like CIBSE or buildingSMART.

James Wates, Deputy Chairman, Wates Group
 
James Wates has worked in the construction industry all his life, starting on site as a schoolboy during the holidays. He read Estate Management at college after which he joined Wates Construction as a management trainee, progressing through line management to running sites before taking on a General Manager role in 1989. Since then he has progressed through the company to be Deputy Chairman of the main Group Board.
 
Outside the Group, his interests include industry bodies such as the CBI, CITB-ConstructionSkills and he chairs the Construction Confederation. He is also a governor of Emanuel School, a trustee of the Wates Foundation and the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for the disabled and a member of the newly formed London Skills and Employment Board and sits on the London Regional Council of The Prince’s Trust
 
Martin Hunt, Principal Sustainability Advisor, Forum for the Future
 

Martin is Head of Built Environment at Forum for the Future. Forum work in partnership with leading organisations, including a number of businesses and public agencies responsible for delivering and maintaining our built environment. Our vision is of business and communities thriving in a future that's environmentally sustainable and socially just. We believe that a sustainable future can be achieved, that it is the only way business and communities will prosper, but that we need bold action now to make it happen.

 
Michael Schwartz, Managing Director, Zed Homes
 
 
 
Michael Shwartz has been involved in the construction and development industry since 1982, managing a variety of projects from domestic housing to complex commercial, retail and military projects. He boasts an impressive record of achievement throughout the industry, at home and abroad, and has inspired a formidable reputation for quality and reliability. He has championed the delivery of Zero Carbon Homes and Business with a large number of proposed developments already in the planning system and 44 low carbon units already approved and in the stage of delivering.

 

 
Mike Watson, Head of Construction , Waste & Resources Action Programme
 
 
 
Dr Mike Watson is Head of Construction at WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) with overall responsibility for the Construction Programme. WRAP’s work in construction is aimed at increasing the efficiency of materials use across the whole of the construction process, by encouraging the sector to reduce waste, recycle more and use recycled materials. Mike manages three programmes to achieve this: waste minimisation and management, materials recycling, and procurement of recycled content.

 

 
Paul King, Chief Executive, Green Building Council
 
 
 
"Paul King is the recently-appointed Chief Executive of the UK Green Building Council. Previously he was Campaign Director at WWF-UK, where he led the One Million Sustainable Homes campaign, and co-founder of One Planet Living(r). Paul is a member of the Igloo Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, serves on the Sustainability Board of BRE, Advisory Board of Genesis and the UK Centre for Excellence in Housing. He is also a member of the Zero Carbon Homes 2016 Task Force and the Sustainability of New Non-Domestic Buildings Steering Group convened by the Department for Communities & Local Government in 2007."

 

 
Pete Farrand, Marketing and Communications Director, Bureau Veritas UK and Ireland
 

Pete Farrand joined Bureau Veritas in 2003 and is responsible for strategic services development, marketing and communications. Bureau Veritas helps clients around the world manage their Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and Social Responsibility issues and respond to the challenges of improving Sustainability. Services to the Construction sector form the largest area of operations.
